Francis Holland Schools Trust to open Francis Holland Preparatory School in September 2024

Francis Holland Schools Trust is pleased to announce the opening of Francis Holland Preparatory School in the heart of Chelsea

Francis Holland Schools Trust is pleased to announce the opening of Francis Holland Preparatory School in the heart of Chelsea. From September 2024, Francis Holland’s Junior School at Sloane Square will become Francis Holland Preparatory School and relocate to an iconic Victorian Grade II listed building, just off the King’s Road.  This prime property will more than double the space currently occupied by our Junior School and most importantly enable us to extend our award-winning FHS education to over one hundred more girls.  By becoming two form entry, with 280 pupils by September 2026, we will be able to strengthen our educational offering, both academically and pastorally.  Planning for small class sizes of 20 will enable us to maintain the level of individual attention for each child and the nurturing and friendly environment for which Francis Holland is renowned.

“The acquisition of this iconic building close by in Chelsea enables us to expand the Junior School to two form entry, providing additional high-quality space for our junior pupils and at the same time allowing the Senior School to develop yet further.  The Trust is confident that this will provide our current and prospective pupils with the very best experience at their junior school and the best possible preparation for their chosen senior schools” said Patrick Sherrington, Chair of Francis Holland Schools Trust.

Francis Holland Prep will take over the impressive 20,000 sq ft site which is currently the home of The Hampshire School, Chelsea at 15 Manresa Road, SW3 6NB. The building, which dates back to 1890, combines heritage with modern learning spaces. The impressive facilities include the old Chelsea library, a spacious School Hall with staging and backstage space for performing arts and an extensive outside play area.

Francis Holland Prep will maintain its close relationship with Francis Holland Sloane Square Senior School, with the specialist Senior School staff continuing to teach in both schools. We anticipate that the popularity of the Senior School will continue to attract pupils from Francis Holland Prep at 11+. The new site will also provide an outstanding platform for entry into other leading senior schools, including Francis Holland, Regent’s Park.

Francis Holland Junior School and The Hampshire School will continue to be run separately for the current academic year 2023-24 and we look forward to welcoming girls from The Hampshire School, Chelsea, as pupils to the new Francis Holland Prep from September 2024.
