On Thursday, 22nd January 2026, Francis Holland Sloane Square hosted the Schools' Alumni Association, also known as 'AROPS', for a regional meeting. The meeting was attended by representatives from over twenty UK independent schools and alumni networks.

Tom Robertson, Director of Development at Francis Holland Schools Trust, and Jane Orr, Class of 1969 and Treasurer of the Old Girls' Society, represented the school community at the AROPS meeting. Alexandra Haydon, Head and President of the Old Girls' Society, was also present, along with Dina Maktabi, our Alumni Relations Officer.

Attendees had the opportunity to network before taking part in a discussion led by Alan Cooper, Chair of AROPS, on how to retain alumni affinity for their schools. The discussion explored how communications, events, and engagement resonate with alumni, while acknowledging change and the challenges alumni may experience in relation to their organisation. There was also an opportunity to share experiences, seek advice and brainstorm ideas on ways to include alumni, parents, friends, staff, and pupils in supporting and enhancing the school's future.

This was followed by a presentation from SDS Group, Archive and Digital Heritage Specialists, on how archives can act as a catalyst for alumni relations. The event provided an invaluable opportunity to exchange best practices with fellow alumni representatives in a welcoming and collaborative setting. We would like to thank AROPS and all attendees for sharing their valuable insights and recommendations.

A huge thank you to our Alumni Relations Officer, Dina Maktabi, for organising the AROPS Regional Meeting, and to the Catering team for providing an excellent buffet selection.
