Staff and students came together for a special celebratory event for the Lower Sixth EPQ students. The Extended Project Qualification is worth half an A Level and is highly valued by universities because it encourages the development of independent learning and research skills. Students chose their own topics to research and produce. This year these have ranged from the composition of three songs based on the ancient Greek performances of Epics, the design for an energy efficient house, the construction of a lampshade inspired by Vivienne Westwood and a hearty debate on whether Jackson Pollock can be considered a political painter.
Each student presented on their research journey and the findings of their projects and the audience was impressed with the depth and rigour of their research. The ambition, curiosity and academic endeavour of the work produced is impressive. The EPQ and Sixth Form team is extremely proud of all they have achieved and the way they have conducted their independent academic work.
Miss Mackenzie, Head of EPQ
