Fanny Davies Music Festival

Last week was an important one for the Music Department, beginning on Monday and Tuesday with two glorious days of music-making in the annual Fanny Davies Festival – over 200 performances were held, and there was a joyful feeling throughout with ever higher standards being reached. The Junior (Years 7-9) winner was Helena Glover in Year 7 – who’s virtuoso performance of ‘Flight of the Bumble Bee’ on the flute was unsurpassed (she is also a fabulous pianist). And, in the Senior part of the school Inga de Vegvar was the runner up (organ, viola, chamber music) and the overall winner was Teresa De Oliveira Munoz De La Espada for her wonderful ‘cello playing. Other highly commended students were Mika Bianchi, Eloise Burkey, Amalia De Oliveira Munoz De La Espada, Eva Fleury, Vicky Hamlyn, Angelina Poggio-Magnus, Tess Vogels. Well done to everyone who participated in this amazing event.

By Miss Vickery, Director of Music.
