Happy birthday, Katherine Low Settlement!

Francis Holland has a long established link with the Katherine Low Settlement: Katherine attended FHS; the charity was established in memory of her work with some of the most disadvantaged in London

Yesterday was the official birthday of Katherine Low Settlement. 97 years ago the charity was formally opened by the Queen Mother (then HRH Duchess of York). Please have a look at the photo’s, below, as well as the write up of the formalities. It makes for fascinated reading. It says towards the end, “We hope that the new Settlement at Orville-road will be given a fair chance [of survival].” Well here we are 97 years later and still going from strength to strength, giving ourselves that ‘fair chance’.

Here's to another 97 years
