Over 200 FHS parents were privileged to hear a lecture by Professor Tanya Byron, acclaimed clinical psychologist, government advisor on adolescent mental health, author of the Byron Review and numerous books and presenter of several TV programmes.  Speaking about ‘Building Girls for the Future’, Professor Byron described the ways in which society has tried to eliminate risk and failure, thus creating a culture where children are surrounded by anxiety and pressure.  Professor Byron gave much invaluable advice on how to guide girls through difficulties such as self-harm and anorexia, and most of all gave a balanced and hopeful perspective on the outcome of an education like ours at FHS. She praised our focus on sport, the performing and creative arts, mindfulness and our Christian ethos of love and service.
