The group, which included Alice Morison’s great-great niece, enjoyed meeting with our Head, Mrs Haydon, before embarking on a tour of the School.
The ‘beloved and respected’ Miss Morison has been described as a ‘key figure in the history of the school’, providing dynamic and steadfast leadership through the challenging WWI and inter-war years. One of her finest achievements was her incredible fundraising efforts in the early 1920s, which culminated in the opening of the Morison Wing on 24th July 1922, known today as the Centre for Creative Enterprise. She was also a key figure in the founding of the Katherine Low Settlement, which remains one of the main charities the school supports.
It was an honour, therefore, to welcome Miss Morison’s descendants to Francis Holland today to share her incredible legacy and impact on the School. We are so grateful for them for making the journey to visit us.
