The newly formed Senior School Parents’ Association (SSPA) held their inaugural event on Wednesday 15th June.
They raised over £10,000 for two very worthy causes – the Francis Holland Bursary Fund and the Chelsea Community Hospital School. Parents were treated to a stunning exhibition of GCSE artwork as well as a colourful array of anonymous photographs, line drawings and paintings donated by girls, parents and staff which were placed for sale at a price of £25 each. As the sale of red dots got underway, guests rushed to secure their own glorious masterpiece and bidding became frantic on the Silent Auction where lots included a private tour of the Saatchi Gallery, Theo Fennell’s studio and Sotheby’s as well as works of art from established artists and photographers.
The wine flowed (generously donated by Lupton Wines) and families enjoyed popcorn, a fifties style ice cream stand with an array of delicious flavours and had their silhouettes personally created by the Roving Artist who cleverly cut out instantly recognisable cameos within a matter of minutes. Brilliant!
Many thanks and much praise must go to the SSPA who organised such a wonderful evening which was hugely enjoyed by all – and to the boundless creativity of FHS students, without whom none of this would have been possible.
