Here's an update from one of this year's OGS Travel Scholarship recipients, Charlotte Cotton (Class of 1999), who spent the summer racing with the elites in top international mountain races across Europe! Says Charlotte, "I am so hugely grateful to the school and the alumni communities for sponsoring and supporting my running adventures. I thought I'd let you know how it is all going for now:
This summer I was seventh in the first World Cup race in Portugal.
I became Vice European Championship in my age group.
I am currently winning the VK Open (Skyrunning federation) which is basically the equivalent of the World Cup for that association. The final will be in October in Italy.
I took part in the Skyrunning European championships in Montenegro, which was utterly amazing, though I suffered in the 34 degree heat.
I once again beat my record time for both men and women in Switzerland on a mountain known as the Wasserngrat.
I was second by a handful of seconds in another vertical race, also in Switzerland.
I'm the World Masters Champion and am currently 12th in the World Cup rankings."
