Anne's Leaving Do
Anne retired after 38 years at Francis Holland
Anne was Director of Operations, Member of the Senior Leadership Team, a devoted teacher of PE and a member of the Old Girls’ Committee. But she was much more than that. The truth is that Anne has been so indispensable to the school that nobody could quite believe that she was really leaving!
The school hosted a simply wonderful party for her. A throng of former teachers and pupils came to celebrate her career, including two former headmistresses, Jennifer Anderson and Stephanie Pattenden. That made a trio of headmistresses with Mrs Elphinstone, who was eloquent in her praise for Anne and her thanks for the help she had given her on joining the school. The Upper Sixth came in great numbers to say goodbye and reminisce with fondness about the many conversations they had all had with Mrs Margetson over the years.
Anne’s immediate plans are trips to Puglia in Italy and we are all thirlled that Anne has agreed to stay on as a member of the Old Girls’ Committee. A massive thank you to Anne for all she has done for the school in her 38 years here at FHS and she will be greatly missed!
Marina and Eileen Gallagher also retired at the end of the Summer Term from the Junior School after 56 years collectively, along with Linda Fairly who joined the school in 2008 and was well known for her artistic flair and the work she did as Charity Co-ordinator. They were visited by many former girls and parents at their leaving celebration and will be hugely missed by the staff and girls who were lucky enough to share their time at FHS with them.
