To celebrate St George's Day, FHS's Mr Edes paid tribute in his latest art workshop to English Painter William Turner. This workshop includes a watercolour exercise based on one of Turner's studies of fishermen bringing in the catch during a fierce storm. Meanwhile, the school is hosting a mufti day today, marking St George's Day, with the theme being 'England through the ages'. Teachers and pupils have impressed with some fantastic efforts!
Lastly, the English Department this week commenced their Poem of the Day initiative, emailed out to all staff and gratefully received!
As well as today being St George's Day, but perhaps even more importantly, 23 April is the day on which William Shakespeare was born - and died. That means, of course, that the Poem of the Day is one of his sonnets:
