Wednesday morning, Headmistress Mrs Elphinstone hand-delivered £350 worth of perishable food supplies (including 240 eggs!) to the Katherine Low Settlement in Battersea, following our School closure. Food donations from FHS have been distributed among the elderly this morning (Thursday) at In Deep London. Girls will also be writing letters to those supported by In-Deep over the coming weeks.
At Francis Holland we work closely with London-based charities such as the Katherine Low Settlement and In-Deep Community Task Force in Battersea and we are therefore aware of the immediate needs of charities who support the elderly and vulnerable. Fears over Covid-19 have unfortunately led to consumers rushing to purchase products which has in turn led to a shortage of products for those who really need them.
In the face of such unsettling times, the warmth and generosity shown by our School community has been overwhelming. Thanks to the support of our parents, pupils and staff we have been able to deliver many vital items such as tea, coffee, tinned goods, toiletries and much more to both the Katherine Low Settlement and In-Deep, and in addition we have been able to donate £1700 to support In-Deep over the coming weeks.
An enormous thank you to the entire FHS community for your continued support.
