Former FHS Spanish teacher Gill Hancock retired from the school twenty years ago. Upon her retirement, Sixth Form pupils gave her a voucher to buy an oak sapling because she had 'planted so many ideas in their minds'. As you can see from the picture above, twenty years on the 'Francis Holland tree' has flourished in its location in Walgrave, Northamptonshire.

The tree reflects just how popular and enthusiastic a teacher Gill was, and her love of and committment to Francis Holland School.
