On Monday 1st April, we held our annual Spring Concert at Cadogan Hall.

The first half of our terrific concert celebrated the talent in our Music Department, including the winning performances from our recent Fanny Davies Festival: Darya singing with her customary panache, Cecilia performing an accomplished Chopin's Fantaisie on the piano, Teresa playing an extremely poised movement from one of Bach’s unaccompanied cello suites and Elizabeth exciting us all with fireworks on the xylophone.

The Lower School Choir started the concert with a noisy hoe-down and the Senior Chamber Choir sang the premiere of a setting of Psalm 103 commissioned by the School from the composer Joanna Forbes L’Estrange. Violinist Isabella moved many to tears with her heartrendingly beautiful performance of Méditation from Thaïs by Massenet, and a small ensemble of staff and parents gave an accomplished rendition of Beatrice’s A Level composition, Three Movements from Festal Mass.

The pièce de résistance came in the second half, where almost 130 performers gave a powerful and moving rendition of Mozart’s Requiem. Particular thanks are due to the soloists: Jamina and Ellie (soprano), Darya (alto), Nathan Burkey (tenor) and Leo Selleck (bass) and to all the musicians for producing a concert to be proud of.
