Nour creates bespoke celebratory cakes inspired by art, architecture and nature, and was invited to design a cake to commemorate the School’s 141st birthday, presented at the Old Girls’ Alumni Association Birthday Drinks Party last March. Also in March, nuun was awarded a £3,000 Francis Holland Alumni Association Business Enterprise Award. Six months on, we were keen to learn more about nuun since winning the award.
Says Nour, “Nuun has been growing at a steady pace. I used the award to focus on strengthening the nuun brand and spreading the word out there about my mission to create Art You Can Eat. I was able to bring in a digital marketing consultant who I worked with closely to define the brand's image, refine our social media and create a 12-month plan to grow our online presence. I also used part of the award to build a brand-new website featuring specially commissioned images (also paid for using the award!). I am now reaching my target of doubling my production year on year.
“The future of nuun will see us move into a dedicated commercial space, develop courses and training, while continuing to work to become a brand synonymous with luxury cake. I have been selected to display my work at the Cake and Bake Show at the Excel- the UK's largest baking event in October and I there are couple of exciting partnership possibilities in the works too!”
Nour advised other alumnae entrepreneurs, ”there is no better time to start than right now! You don't need a business plan to start, but the process of creating one is so valuable in charting the future of your business.”
