'Weren't Born a Man' is published by Hawksmoor in January, revealing Dana's journey from her early career in the 60s on the Decca record label to accomplished blues singer of the present day. Says Dana, "Of course I sing the praises of FHS in the book, especially Miss Ashby (music teacher) who changed the course of my life for the better. Whenever I meet Henrietta (Mahaffy) from my class we always talk about the good times we had at school, and I don’t think anyone could have had a better schooling than us - and the whole class that I was in from the early 60s agrees with me. What a joy it is to look back then and have so many good memories that pay off now by being so well taught in every aspect. It was truly the best grounding ever.'
Hawksmoor have signed copies of Dana's book available to pre-order, via the link below: https://hawksmoorpublishing.com/shop/dana-gillespie-book
