Always a very special occasion, this year’s School Birthday was even more so as it was Mrs Haydon’s first as Head of FHS, and we were all so excited to show her the veritable smorgasbord of unique traditions we enjoy each year.

The morning began with our annual School Birthday Service in the spectacular Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Street. The congregation was dotted with the bright yellow of our school birthday flower, and an eternal symbol of optimism, hope and the beginning of Spring, the daffodil. As is customary, our Junior School girls sported hairstyles beautifully adorned with daffodils for all to admire.

Led by our Chaplain, Revd. van der Hart, our School Birthday Service featured readings by our Head Girl, Junior and Senior pupils, performances by our Junior, Lower and Senior School Choirs and, of course, a spirited rendition of our school anthem, ‘Except the Lord build the house’.

Next up was the ceremonial Birthday Cake cutting in the Senior Hall by Mrs Haydon and a rousing rendition of ‘Happy Birthday, Dear School’, followed by delicious School Birthday cupcakes for every member of our FHS community – yum! We then enjoyed witnessing the amazing talents of our Junior School girls at the impressive finals of our legendary “FHJS Has Got Talent” competition! This was followed by an equally impressive Senior School Talent Show. Finally, celebrations came to a glorious crescendo with our annual school ‘Rockaoke’ in the Hall.

What a day! Thank you so much to all involved in celebrating with such all-encompassing FHS Spirit – we’re already looking forward to the big 144!
