Francis Holland alumna Jean Hunt has passed away at the age of 96 years. Born in 1923, Jean attended the school at Sloane Square from 1934-1939, and was Head Girl whilst the school was evacuated during the Second World War to Headington School in Oxford.

Jean can be seen in the photograph above, standing centrally behind Headmistress Miss Richards.

Rather than continuing on to the Sixth Form, Jean left Francis Holland School in 1939 and enrolled at Gloucester Domestic Science Training College. After qualifying, she worked as a cook in hospitals in Truro and London during the remaining war years. In 1949 Jean started work at Langley School in Norfolk, where she met and married the Head of English, Teddy Hunt.

The couple had two children and moved from Great Yarmouth to Norwich in 1969, where Jean resided until her death in March of this year.
