UVI Off to University event: Q&A with Nichola Chakma
 
Class of 2017 alumna Nichola Chakma kindly returned to FHS, taking some time out of her busy study schedule to speak to the current UVI about preparing for life at university. We caught up with Nichola with some questions of our own:
 
What university do you go to?
UCL – Second Year
 
What do you study?
Chemical Engineering
 
How are you finding it?
It’s very difficult compared to the first year, with an increased workload. I learned from my mistakes in the first year and everything is going very smoothly. For the first year I lived in halls, now I live in Camden with friends. Third year I'm thinking about going home. My parents live in London. It’s good to have help with food and cleaning!

How did you feel about coming back?
It’s like a community, I feel excited to come back and I’m still in touch with other FHS leavers.
 
How did FHS prepare you for life at uni?
The Sixth Form speaker programme was useful. I still remember my “Off to uni” evening.
The constant help and support was helpful.
 
 
Advise for current leavers?
Don’t stress too much about exams – everything will fall into place, whether you end up in your firm or insurance choice of uni. While at uni, try new things. Take up new sports and societies. So far, I’ve tried netball, lacrosse and rowing.
