Old Girls' News |
My late mother, Mary (nee Sheppard), was one of a group of Old Girls who were instrumental in raising money to reopen the school after the War. There used to be a list of their names displayed in the entrance hall, but I don't think it's there now. My mother had some pretty Chinese ornaments that she told me she had bought at one of the fund raising initiatives.
Miss Bowden was Headmistress for my first five years as a pupil. She was a wonderful, gracious lady, as I'm sure many other Old Girls will have told you. We little girls were in awe of her, but of course had no understanding of her part in ensuring our school had survived. Thank you to Mr Bartram for keeping this information alive.
And thank you for sending the links to the FHS online assemblies, which I am loving. The school is obviously doing brilliant work in ensuring the whole community is kept together while forced to be apart.
